Video to GIF

Turn a video clip into a fun GIF for sharing

Choose a start point and duration, and get a GIF ready to share on WhatsApp, Slack, and social media. You define the clip in seconds, the width between 240 and 720 pixels, and the rate between 5 and 24 frames per second, and the GIF will loop endlessly. After creation, you will see a preview and the file size, so if it is too heavy you can lower the width or frame rate and try again. This is great for a funny reaction, a quick demo of an app feature, or a moment from a family video. Everything runs in your browser and the video is not uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

What is the recommended length?

Up to 10 seconds. A long GIF becomes very heavy, so a short and to-the-point clip is better.

Why is the GIF so heavy?

GIF is an old format that does not compress video efficiently, so just a few seconds can weigh several megabytes. Lowering the width to 480 or below and the rate to 10 or 12 frames reduces the file size the most.

Is there sound in the GIF?

No. The format does not support audio at all. When sound is important, it is better to send a short video clip.

Can I take a clip from the middle of the video?

Yes. In the start field, enter which second to begin from, and in the length field, how many seconds to take from there.

Is the video uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in the browser. On the first use, a video engine of about 31MB is downloaded, and the video itself can weigh up to 40MB.
