Shrink a video for sending via WhatsApp or email
Compress your video to significantly reduce its file size without uploading it to any server. The tool returns an MP4 that opens in WhatsApp, on iPhones, and in email. There are three levels: high quality, balanced, and maximum compression which also scales the image down to 720p. When finished, you will see the size before and after, the savings percentage, and a player to preview the result before downloading. Processing in the browser is slower than installed desktop software, making this tool best for short and medium videos up to 40MB per file. On the first use, a video engine of about 31MB is downloaded and saved for next time.
It depends on the video length and your computer, roughly real-time up to 3 times the video length. A one-minute video will take between one and three minutes.
High quality and balanced keep the original resolution and only change the compression level. Maximum compression also scales the video down to a height of 720 pixels, which saves the most weight.

The engine runs inside the browser on a single CPU core. In exchange, the video never leaves your computer, which is important for a family video or a recorded meeting.
