Tip and Bill Split Calculator

How much everyone pays, including tip and rounding

A tip and bill split calculator. Enter the bill amount, choose a tip percentage and the number of diners, and see exactly how much each person pays. There are shortcuts for common percentages like 0%, 10%, 12%, 15%, 18%, and 20%, plus a slider for any percentage up to 30%. Below the per-person amount, you will also see the tip amount and the grand total, so you can verify it against the bill. You can round up to a whole shekel to avoid dealing with agorot (cents), which makes the collected amount slightly higher than the grand total. The calculation runs in your browser and updates with every change.

Frequently asked questions

How much tip is customary in Israel?

In restaurants, 10% to 15% is generally expected. Clicking one of the shortcuts will update the calculation.

How do you calculate a tip on a 350 NIS bill?

At 12%, the tip is 42 NIS and the grand total is 392 NIS. Split between 4 diners, each person pays 98 NIS.

Do I need to deduct VAT before calculating the tip?

No. The tool calculates the tip from the amount you entered, and in Israel, the price on the bill already includes VAT, so just enter the amount as it appears.

What happens when rounding up?

The amount for each person is rounded up to the next whole shekel. For four diners, this adds less than 4 NIS to the total collected, which effectively becomes part of the tip.

Can we split it unevenly, for example if someone did not drink?

No, the tool splits the amount equally. In that case, subtract what one person ordered from the bill and calculate their share separately.
