Is your text readable? Includes auto-correction
Check the contrast between your text and background colors against WCAG standards. You can pick two colors using the picker or HEX codes and see a live preview of a heading, paragraph, and small text on your chosen background. The tool calculates the contrast ratio from 1 to 21 and grades four tests: AA and AAA for both normal and large text. If your text fails the normal text AA threshold of 4.5, it suggests the closest passing shade with the same hue and saturation but adjusted lightness, keeping your brand recognizable. All calculations run in your browser.
AA is the standard threshold required in most cases, needing a 4.5 ratio for normal text and 3 for large text. AAA is stricter, requiring 7 for normal text and 4.5 for large text.
Contrast is a major requirement but not the only one. Full compliance also requires keyboard navigation, alt text for images, and an accessibility statement.
According to WCAG, large text is 24 pixels or larger, or 18.66 pixels or larger in bold weight.
Sometimes no shade of that color passes the threshold against your chosen background, which triggers a message. In that case, you need to make the background darker or lighter.
No. The tool accepts solid colors in HEX code. For a transparent color, you first need to calculate the resulting solid color on the background and enter that.

If reloading did not help, your browser may be too old. Klix runs the tools on your own device rather than on a server, so it needs a browser from 2022 or later. What to do: update Chrome or Firefox, then open klixtools.com again.
