Crop and set exact image dimensions in pixels
Crop freely or use a fixed ratio like a 1:1 square, 16:9, or a 9:16 story, and change the image width to an exact number of pixels. The height is calculated automatically based on the ratio, so the image is never stretched. This is useful for a profile picture required in a specific size, posts and stories, website images, and documents that demand fixed dimensions. The result is saved as a PNG, and everything runs in your browser without uploading the image to any server. Downsizing to the dimensions actually displayed is also the most effective way to reduce file size, even before touching compression.
Downsizing keeps the image sharp. Enlarging beyond the original size will always blur it, because there is nowhere to invent pixels that were not photographed.
Cropping removes parts of the image and changes what you see. Resizing keeps the entire image and only changes the number of pixels. For a new display ratio, you usually need both.
A square post is 1080 by 1080, a vertical post is 1080 by 1350, and a story or reel is 1080 by 1920. Here you have ready-made 1:1 and 9:16 ratios. You can manually crop the 4:5 vertical post using the free crop tool, then enter a width of 1080.
Because its aspect ratio is different from the space it is placed in. You should crop it to the correct ratio before uploading, rather than letting CSS stretch it.
Always PNG, which retains full quality. A photo saved as a PNG might come out heavier than the original, in which case you should convert it to JPG or WebP, or compress it.
Klix could not load
Try reloading the page first. If a new version just went out, a reload fixes it straight away.
If reloading did not help, your browser may be too old. Klix runs the tools on your own device rather than on a server, so it needs a browser from 2022 or later. What to do: update Chrome or Firefox, then open klixtools.com again.
