Photo EXIF and Location Remover

Delete GPS, date, and device data before sharing photos

Every photo from your phone carries hidden metadata like exact GPS location, date and time, device model, and more. This tool shows you exactly what is hidden in your image, including location coordinates, capture date, device manufacturer and model, and the software that edited it. It highlights sensitive information in red. You can then download a clean copy with zero metadata before sending the photo by email, uploading it to a website, or posting it on a secondhand marketplace. A PNG image remains a PNG, and other formats, including HEIC from iPhones, are saved as high quality JPGs. Everything runs in your browser, and the image is never uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly gets deleted?

All the metadata. This includes GPS location, capture date, camera model, and camera settings. Only the image itself remains.

Don't social networks delete this automatically?

Most social networks remove location data when you upload a photo to them. However, a file sent by email, as a WhatsApp attachment, or uploaded to your own website keeps all of its data.

How do I know if a photo has location data?

Upload it here. If it contains location data, the coordinates will appear with a sensitive warning. If nothing is found, the tool will tell you the image is already relatively clean.

Does the image itself change?

The dimensions stay exactly the same. To remove the data, the image is resaved. PNGs are saved losslessly, and other formats are saved as a 95 percent quality JPG, a difference you cannot see with the naked eye.

Is the photo uploaded to a server?

No. Reading and cleaning are done entirely in your browser. That is exactly the point, as you should not send a photo with your home location to a server just to delete the location from it.
